INTRODUCTION

Introduce the lesson by challenging students to think about competition: Can you imagine what our country would be like if monopolies ruled the business world? Under monopolies, there would be no competition. What difference would that make? Competition among sellers lowers costs and prices and encourages producers to produce more of what consumers are willing to buy.

LESSON
The lesson that goes with the FTC is a create an advertisement lesson. This lesson allows the students to demonstrate their skills using Photoshop that they have gained throughout the year. The students take those skills and their knowledge they have gained about advertisements and create their own shoe advertisement. The students have the opportunity to learn about creating an advertisements and the different aspects that make up a good advertisement. The students view and create a simple one through the internet at http://www.FTC.gov/youarehere . Then find Shoemans Shoes and talk to the shop owner. He will direct you on how to create a good advertisement.
The students the apply their new knowledge and learnings of the different parts of an advertisement and create their own Shoe Ad. This advertisement must meed the specifications set out by the rubric. All of those concepts are covered verbally, visually, and an example is provided online.
